ABOUT
This project is an editorial supplement designed around Emily Gosling’s article, Creativity + Insomnia is a Delirious Duo. The article explores the complex relationship between sleeplessness and creativity, featuring insights from historical and contemporary creatives who struggle with insomnia.

For this project, I developed an 8-page editorial booklet, balancing typography, photography, and layout composition to visually enhance the themes of the article. I used original photography, edited in Adobe Photoshop, to depict the dreamlike, surreal, and often chaotic experience of insomnia. The design intentionally plays with visual distortion, layering, and contrast to reflect the delirium and overstimulation that come with sleepless nights.

The Challenge:
The biggest challenge was capturing the dual nature of insomnia—its potential for both creative bursts and mental exhaustion. I needed to:

-Maintain strong readability while integrating expressive, chaotic design elements.
-Visually communicate the blurred line between dreams and reality.
-Use original imagery that complements the article’s themes without overpowering the text.
-Through experimental typography, high-contrast imagery, and dynamic layouts, I aimed to reflect the frenzied energy of sleepless creative minds while keeping the supplement visually engaging and structured.

The Result:
The final editorial booklet successfully delivers an immersive reading experience that mirrors the emotions tied to insomnia and creativity. The combination of expressive typography, layered photography, and surreal imagery enhances the article’s message, making it not just a piece of writing, but a visually compelling narrative.

The project showcases my ability to merge editorial storytelling with conceptual visual design, ensuring a balance between aesthetics and function.
